Pedestrians and motorists along the Moore Park and Randwick sections of the Sydney CBD and South East Light Rail are being asked to look out for light rail vehicles, with daytime testing beginning for the first time there this week.
The Sydney Light Rail delivery team on April 30 said testing would be carried out between Lang Road on Anzac Parade, and Wansey Road on Alison Road.
“Motorists, bus commuters, cyclists and pedestrians will see more trams testing during the day outside of the morning and afternoon peaks,” Transport for NSW said.
“Cyclists and pedestrians enjoying the new shared path on Alison Road will also need to be mindful of the changed conditions, and cross safely at traffic signals.”
Traffic control will initially be in place at key intersections to help members of the public become more aware of tram movements, and get used to interacting with trams.
As testing moves further into Moore Park and through Surry Hills a public tram safety campaign, ‘Be aware there’s a tram there’ is running, as part of a full safety program being developed by Transport for NSW.
