Construction of the Cross River Rail project in Brisbane is continuing apace.
FURTHER works are planned on the Brisbane southside this July as part of the Cross River Rail project.
This follows overhead electrical mast foundation, geotechnical investigations and cable service route installation works undertaken at Fairfield station during the month of June.
Fairfield is a suburb on Brisbane’s inner south.
According to Cross River Rail developers, UNITY Alliance, the month of July should be a busy one.
Between 6.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday during July 2021, weather and construction conditions permitting, the following works are to take place:
- Continue cable service route installation works within the rail corridor using a small excavator, bobcat, small tip truck, delivery vehicles and light vehicles
- Continue to access the rail corridor via Broadmere Street, Annerley
- General station and track investigations including survey and locating services.
“We appreciate your patience during construction and will continue to update you as work progresses,” a UNITY Alliance spokesperson said.
Much Cross River Rail work this year has occurred near the site of the old Roma Street Transit Centre.
The Queensland government announced back in April 2019 the companies chosen to build the $5.4bn Cross River Rail Project.
Cross River Rail aims to enable the extra network capacity required to operate higher frequency public transport.
This is aimed at helping ease the pressure of road congestion, improving liveability for Brisbane and the whole of South East Queensland.
UNITY Alliance is delivering the the rail, integration and systems part of the project, together with CPB Contractors, UGL, AECOM and Jacobs, and partners HASSELL, RCS Australia, Acmena, Martinus Rail and Wired Overhead Solutions.
The tunnels, stations and development part of the project are being conducted by the PULSE Consortium led by CIMIC Group companies, Pacific Partnerships, CPB Contractors, and UGL with international partners DIF, BAM and Ghella.
