Cross River Rail has shared an update on work completed in Queensland during extended track closures in December and January.
A statement said the closures allowed a “huge scope of work” to be done on supporting projects being delivered through the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority.
With more than 300 workers mobilised in the rail corridor, over 600 metres of mainline track was removed and reconstructed at the Mayne Yard stabling facility and 290 turnout points were removed and installed between Bowen Hills and Albion.
Further south, the Rigid Overhead Conductor Bars (ROCB) were connected to the overhead lines at the Southern portal and accessibility upgrade works continued at Yeerongpilly, Salisbury and Moorooka.
Cross River Rail Delivery Authority CEO Graeme Newton thanked customers for their patience throughout the closures.
“A massive scope of work was completed during the Christmas and New Year period, much of which goes beyond the underground tunnels and stations that make up the core scope of Cross River Rail.
“These works require continuous and extensive access to the rail corridor and could not be completed safely or efficiently with trains on the tracks.
“We thank everyone for their understanding while this critical work was carried out.”
