Sydney Metro West is one step closer, after delivery partners were shortlisted for major contract packages.
The Stations Package West contract includes the design and construction of five new Sydney Metro stations at Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, and the Bays.
Shortlisted bidders proceeding to the Request for Tender stage of this contract are:
- CPB Contractors Pty Limited & Lendlease Construction
- MetroVista comprising Gamuda Berhad trading as Gamuda (Australia) branch with DT Infrastructure and BESIX Watpac (NSW) Pty Ltd engaged as delivery partners
The Linewide Package includes the design, construction and commissioning of 24 kilometres of linewide rail infrastructure, as well as tunnel ventilation, power, lighting, drainage and fire systems infrastructure.
In addition, the linewide contractor will be responsible for the design and construction of a new stabling and maintenance facility and operations control centre at Clyde.

The Trains and Systems package includes the procurement of 16 metro trains and associated rail systems, signalling systems, control systems, and platform screen doors.

The Operations and Maintenance package includes the procurement of a customer- focused operator who will be responsible for operations, asset management and maintenance for 15 years.

As part of this next stage, Sydney Metro will explore the benefits of combining the Trains and Systems and Operations and Maintenance packages. This process will commence at the end of 2023.
By mid-2024, Sydney Metro will commence a market engagement process with developers and station builders as part of the Stage 2 Expressions of Interest to procure the Integrated Station Developments at Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, and Pyrmont, noting the Hunter Street Precinct Development Partner process has already commenced.
Sydney Metro West is a once-in-a-century infrastructure investment that will double rail capacity between Greater Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.
It will make it easier and faster to travel around western Sydney, link new communities to rail services and support employment growth and housing supply.
