<p>Coal & Allied has cut back production of coal at three Hunter Valley sites in line with reductions in its port and rail allocations for the rest of the year.</p> <p>Coal & Allied managing director Douglas Richie said the cutbacks – reducing total production for the year by 25% – were unavoidable given the reduction in allocation levels.</p> <p>“The current system of allocation and planning is clearly untenable,” he said.</p> <p>“We are working with other parties involved in the coal logistics chain to develop a long-term strategy to provide a more stable basis for industry to operate in.</p> <br />
