Century Mine could be closed for 11 to 18 days

<p>Exports from the Century Mine in northwest Queensland could be hampered significantly after a major electrical failure at the start of the concentrator production process.</p> <p>It is estimated that the mine could lose between 11 and 18 days of production.</p> <p>The Century Mine produces about 500,000 tonnes of zinc and 65,000 tonnes of lead in concentrate in a full year. </p> <p>The mine’s operator, Zinifex, said repairs to the semi-autogenous grinding mill have started and the full financial impact of the disruption will be quantified once the full extent of damage is known, probably next week.</p> <br />
