Calling all rail suppliers

AusRAIL 2010 saw the launch of a new powerful online tool that showcases Australian rail manufacturers’ capabilities and connects suppliers with business opportunities both locally and overseas.
A Federal Government initiative, the Industry Capability Network* (ICN) Rail Directory is a one-stop-shop web portal that acts as a “connection point” for the Australian rail industry by bringing together suppliers and procurement managers in one central location. Suppliers can list their company free of charge and buyers can use the powerful search function to find suppliers that meet their exact specifications.

ICN executive director Derek Lark told Rail Express that the directory means that for the first time, Australia’s rail manufacturers will have one central meeting point.

“Whether you’re a supplier or a project manager, you cannot afford not to be using this powerful business tool,” Lark said.

“This is a win-win. We help suppliers find new business and help buyers save time and money during the procurement process.

“Registering on the directory is free and suppliers can manage their company profiles, search for new business and register expressions of interest against listed projects.”

Supporting the directory is ICN’s national network of technical consultants who have more than 25 years experience building procurement partnerships.

“Everyday ICN helps project managers find world-class Australian rail suppliers,” Lark said, adding that ICN had already helped local businesses across a range of industries secure more than $15bn worth of contracts that may have otherwise gone overseas.

For more information or to register visit: ICN Rail Directory at www.rail.icn.org.au

*ICN is a not for profit organisation funded by Australian, state and territory governments.
