Call to recognise rail heritage

<p>Western Australia’s rail heritage should be recognised and protected, according to infrastructure minister Alannah MacTiernan.</p> <p>Historic rail engines and rollingstock deserve the same recognition given to historic buildings, Ms MacTiernan said.</p> <p>"Trains are movable heritage which attracts a particularly passionate following and provides fantastic recreational opportunities," she said.</p> <p>Ms MacTiernan made these comments at the opening of a State rail strategy forum that brought together Western Australia’s 12 historical rail organisations and representatives from rail companies and interstate organisations.</p> <br />
