Cairns tilt train trims times

<p>A new era in Queensland passenger train services will kick off in June with the introduction of the first Cairns tilt train.</p> <p>The first diesel tilt train service will set off from Cairns on June 15 and will take just under 25 hours to reach Brisbane &#8211 knocking seven hours off present service times on the 1,600-km journey. </p> <p>Three weekly northbound services will leave Brisbane at 6.25 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.</p> <p>Southbound services will leave Cairns at 8.15 am on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.</p> <p>The electric tilt trains have been strong performers since their introduction between Brisbane, Rockhampton and Bundaberg and the faster service has attracted a steady build-up in passenger numbers.</p> <br />
