Train services on the T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line in Sydney have been replaced by buses as major construction work takes place in connection with the Southwest Metro.
The line closed yesterday April 27 and will remain shut for the next nine weeks, until June 29.
When work is complete, eight-car services will be able to run on the T6 line, rather than the four-car trains it was limited to before.
The replacement buses running on the line will include include an all stops and express service:
8T6: All stations between Bankstown and Lidcombe (all stops).
8AT6: Bankstown, then Lidcombe and return (express).
Both the all-stops (8T6) and the express service (8AT6) will operate to an 8 minute frequency during peak periods, and a 15 minute frequency during off-peak times – a similar frequency to the usual T6 rail services.
Acting Transport for NSW Coordinator-General Barbara Wise said train passengers should plan their trips in advance.
“Please check the trip planner, plan your trip and look out for the fare-free 8T6 and 8AT6 buses which will temporarily replace T6 train services,” Wise said.
“To ensure passengers can get to where they need to go, street teams will be on the ground across the T6 corridor on select days to assist commuters with any questions they may have and help ensure people have the information they need to prepare for their trips.
“I want to thank the community for their patience while we future proof the transport network.”
