The groundwork is being laid for the revitalisation of Boronia Station in Victoria, with geotechnical works underway this week.
The geotechnical investigations involve boreholes being drilled along Lupton Way, with traffic controllers in place to make sure locals can get around the area safely.
The works will pave the way for construction to start on the upgrade later this year, to be completed in 2026.
When finished, the station will have a new landscaped plaza with seating and lighting, connecting to a new pedestrian crossing for safe and convenient access to the Dorset Road shopping precinct.
In addition, there will be improvements to the platform, including upgrades to station furniture, shelters, and toilets, as well as updates to the passenger waiting room.
The station’s ticket office and Protective Services office will be relocated to upgrade the station entries and allow the station concourse to be widened, which the Victorian Government said will improve access over the rail line.

New canopies will also be added over the station’s entrances and an improved pick-up and drop-off area will be built along Lupton Way.
More lighting and CCTV will be installed around the precinct with the aim of improving safety.
The project is being delivered by an alliance comprising Acciona, WSP, and Metro Trains Melbourne, in partnership with the Level Crossing Removal Project.
A spokesperson for the Victorian Government said Boronia is “set to boom” with the upgrade, which follows works completed in Melbourne’s outer east last year to make the Lilydale Line level crossing free, and the Belgrave Line boom gate free between Ferntree Gully and the city.
