<p>Bombardier transportation has won a $47.4m deal to supply new tramcars for Adelaide’s light rail service.</p> <p>The contract is part of the South Australian Government’s $71.9m plan to supply better trams and upgrade light rail infrastructure.</p> <p>Transport minister Trish White said Bombardier would deliver nine new low floor tramcars for the Glenelg-city light rail.</p> <p>"This is the first major discretionary capital investment made into Adelaide’s public transport fleet for 24 years and is a wonderful asset for our state," Ms White said.</p> <p>Delivery of the first tram is expected in December 2005, with the remainder of the fleet to be in service by July 2006.</p> <br />
