The Wave, previously known as The Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line, is a massive multi-phase rail project in Queensland valued at approximately $17 billion overall.

The Wave includes a passenger rail line from Beerwah to Birtinya, with new stations at Bells Creek (Aura), Caloundra, Aroona, and Birtinya.

This service will integrate with an express, sustainable metro-style service, The Wave Stage 3 (Sunshine Coast Metro), connecting to the Sunshine Coast Airport via Maroochydore CBD.

Mechanical and electrical work is scheduled, along with 17 kilometres of flood-mitigating and road/rail separation structures.

The Queensland State Government unveiled the project as part of its 2032 Delivery Plan, which focuses on infrastructure for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

The three-phased scheme consists of constructing 37.8 kilometres of new dual track and rail systems between Beerwah and Maroochydore. Beerwah and Maroochydore are located about 75 kilometres and 100 kilometres north, respectively, of Queensland’s capital, Brisbane.

Pre-delivery activities are now underway for Stage 2.

For contractors, this means unprecedented opportunity and intensifying competition. Tender submissions often stretch into hundreds of pages and demand input from engineering, safety, sustainability, and community teams. With deadlines tightening, the ability to produce clear, compliant, and compelling bids is, more than ever, becoming a decisive advantage.

Technology is now reshaping how these bids are prepared.

This is where AutogenAI is making an impact. By leveraging an organisation’s existing documents and bid history, AutogenAI enables teams to cut writing time by up to 70 per cent, while strengthening quality and compliance.

For rail firms competing in APAC, that means more resources dedicated to strategy, innovation, and building stronger partnerships, all essential to securing the projects that will define the region’s future.

AutogenAI bidding software is used by construction and infrastructure companies across the United Kingdom, United States, and Asia-Pacific countries.
