BHP proposes 240 mtpa iron ore export facility

Iron ore miner BHP has released details of a proposed massive new export facility, adjacent to Port Hedland, for which it is seeking regulatory approval.

The Outer Harbour Development project &nbspwill include rail connections and a spur from BHP’s existing Ore Newman rail line to proposed stockyards at Boodarie as well as infrastructure corridor including conveyors and utilities.

Construction is anticipated to take two to three years per stage and there will be four stages. The timing and the composition of the stages will depend upon market demand for iron ore, internal and external approvals and construction methodology.”
