Bestech Australia has introduced the Railway Motion Control Unit (RMCU) from Inertial Lab, which was specially developed for railway testing and monitoring applications.
The advanced strap-down system determines the absolute orientation and motion parameters for the railway platform on which it is mounted.
The RMCU measures parameters such as heading, pitch, roll, angular rates and linear accelerations with high accuracy.
“The development of this advanced motion control unit fills the gaps in providing tactical attitude data in the modern railway industry.
“The sensors are designed to withstand extreme heat and harsh environmental conditions in compliance with EN45545, EN50155, and EN50011 railway standards.”
In practical applications, the RMCU is commonly used for integration into railway crack detection systems. It accurately measures the heading, pitch and roll to identify the direction of crack propagation.
“Additionally, you can also combine the results from this measurement system with optical cameras to ensure that critical data is not missed,” Prationo said.
“The RMCU can be easily integrated with industrial platforms such as LabVIEW, ROS or Waypoint Products. It is equipped with the software development kit (SDK) to allow engineers to create custom solutions for any applications.”
