AusRAIL 2022: Sigtech specialist in signals and standards

It’s been a quick rise to the top for fully Australian-owned Sigtech Solutions.

Starting off as an installation/upgrade/testing company barely 20 years ago, today it delivers turnkey rail systems and multidiscipline solutions, including design, construction, maintenance, testing and commissioning, system integration, and safety assurance.

Speaking at AusRAIL, Sigtech principal rail signals engineer Stewart Randell said the company provides Tier 1 contractors and network operators with the experience to maintain and meet company, project and regulatory requirements.

“We have expanded into areas like signalling maintenance, design, assurance and project support,” he said.

“We offer a complete project management service from concept and feasibility to delivery and close-out.

“Sigtech provides in-house signalling design solutions, offering complete packages for feasibility designs, functional specifications, concept designs, detailed designs, to certification.”

The company specialises in complete test and commissioning services, through its competent in-house commissioning managers, testers in charge, field principal testers, and test engineers.

“We have core capabilities across all elements of operational and systems integration from design, to safety and systems assurance, interface management, systems engineering and operations management,” Randell said.

Sigtech boasts a 150-strong workforce nationally and is capable delivering large projects internally.

Some of its major clients include Inland Rail, where the company has been contracted to work on the architecture of signalling systems, and advise on standards and type approvals.

“This involves design and construction, maintenance, project management, test and commissioning services,” Randell said.

Cross River Rail has also engaged Sigtech for Project Independence Certification (PIC), with the company providing an assurance service, reviewing management plans and standards.
