The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is working to restore full operations following floods across the Mid North Coast and Hunter in New South Wales.
On the North Coast corridor, track recertification has been impacted by signalling issues which are being resolved.
Freight services resumed on Monday 26 May and XPT passenger services are expected to resume on Tuesday 27 May.
The ARTC will be actively monitoring track condition between trains, temporary speeds are in place along the alignment and will be in place until track health stabilises.
On the Hunter Valley Network, operational issues related to weather impacts have abated and all four tracks have been recertified at Sandgate and Kooragang North Fork.
Public transport remains impacted. Passenger train services are running on the Hunter Line however buses continue to replace trains between Maitland, Telarah and Dungog.
On the North Coast line, XPT’s are being replaced by coaches, however there is no service to Kempsey, Wingham, Gloucester or Dungog.
ARTC will continue to be briefed on the weather as a new system moves through the area with strong winds but less rain.
An ARTC spokesperson said the corporation is working to restore operations to full service.
