<p>The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has been praised for its efforts in preventing bush fires.</p> <p>ARTC chief executive David Marchant attended a meeting in Cressy, Victoria and promised to look at ways of reducing the risk of rail-created fires.</p> <p>During the meeting, participants told Mr Marchant that some rolling stock running on the local track could start a fire.</p> <p>Mr Marchant promised to take further action in relation to spraying phalaris grasses.</p> <p>Local member Stewart McArthur said Mr Marchant’s commitment "demonstrates there is a new era of railways".</p> <br />
