<p>Interstate trains moving between Campbelltown in southern Sydney and Melbourne will all be managed from the New South Wales town of Junee under changes the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is making.</p> <p>The ARTC has commissioned the first stage of its train control consolidation system along the main southern line from Sydney to Melbourne, at Picton and Tahmoor.</p> <p>A complete roll-out of the new automatic remote-controlled system for interstate trains between Campbelltown and Junee is expected to be completed by June, allowing train signalling and control to be centralised at Junee.</p> <p>The upgrade will replace a 19th-century manual signal system as part of a $560m southern alliance program. </p> <p>The ARTC expects the system to increase the line’s capacity and allow better management of trains using the corridor.</p> <br />
