Expressions of interest are being sought for qualified public art experts to join the Metro Tunnel Arts Advisory Panel, which is to advise on the commissioning of legacy artworks for Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel project.
The panel of up to seven members will convene up to four times a year and each panel member will be appointed for a three-year term, providing their expertise to ensure the significant artwork commissions are integrated within the architectural design of the city’s five new stations and two tunnel entrances at Kensington and South Yarra.
Chaired by Rail Projects Victoria (RPV), the panel will assist in the shortlisting of artist submissions from national and international practitioners, and provide governance oversight of the programme to RPV.
Three panel members have already been drawn from state agencies and local government. The remaining three will be selected through the EOI process.
RPV is seeking EOIs from individuals with leadership experience and expertise in public art (either as a practitioner or curator), in arts governance, philanthropy, and cultural event programming, and in academic roles within the art, architectural, design or social history disciplines. Candidates are to also have experience in commissioning high-profile public creative works.
The deadline for Expressions of interest for panel membership is Friday, July 27 at 5pm.
