ARG upgrades Eyre Peninsula rail

<p>The Australian Railroad Group (ARG) will carry out a $2m upgrade of the railway line between Cummins and Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula rail network. </p> <p>The upgrading is being carried out to ensure that this section of track, the busiest on the EP network, can carry heavier trains at more constant speeds in the future, ARG said.</p> <p>Transfield Services is undertaking the work, which includes the replacement of 15,000 wooden sleepers with new steel sleepers and the removal of over 2,000 traditional mechanical bolted rail joints through the continuous welding of the rails.</p> <p>The $2m rail upgrade is part of a total of $14.5m investment made by ARG on maintaining and upgrading the Eyre Peninsula rail lines since1997. </p> <br />
