ARG ore traffic helps offset grain decrease

A drop in grain traffic has pushed the Australian Railroad Group’s figures down for May 2005.

Total traffic dropped 3,639 wagonloads to 81,676 wagonloads, largely due to the 6,946 wagonload decrease in grain traffic, when compared to May 2004.

The 2004 grain figures reflect last year’s record harvest.

The decrease was partially offset by a 1,346 wagonload increase in bauxite traffic and a 1,128 wagonload increase in iron ore traffic.
