<span class="" id="parent-fieldname-description"> The Australasian Railway Association has released an informative booklet aimed at conveying some of the key points of the recently released BITRE TrainLine 2 report to its stakeholders. </span> <p>ARA’s Australian Rail Industry Overview is a short booklet aimed at raising awareness of the rail industry and ongoing projects, trends and other public interest points.</p><p>It covers key rail projects around Australia, important facts about freight and passenger rail volumes, and how these figures have grown in the past decade.</p><p>The booklet also looks at the trend of government spending on rail vs. road, while also comparing the volume of freight handled by the competing modes.</p><p>“Australia’s rail network is the sixth largest in the world,” the ARA said.</p><p>“This booklet provides a high-level overview of Australia’s rail industry: the services freight and passenger operators provide, our manufacturing sector, and rail’s safety and environmental performance.”</p><p>The booklet is available on the ARA’s website, here: http://ara.net.au/</p>
