<p>Outgoing federal transport minister John Anderson is expected to give another $100m in funding to accelerate the upgrades of the east coast rail network.</p> <p>The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has just started its $1.3bn upgrade of the north-south network that aims to lift rail freight share along the corridor from 17% to 40% within five years.</p> <p>That represents a 109% increase in rail tonnage along the corridor, the ARTC estimates.</p> <p>Mr Anderson is expected to detail the extra $100m in funds later today (Tuesday, July 5), the <em>Australian Financial Review</em> reported.</p> <p>The additional grant was a vote of confidence in ARTC’s upgrade program, Mr Anderson said.</p> <br />
