Alstom puts Aussie transport interest up for sale

<p>Global rail engineering firm Alstom will sell off its Australian transport assets under a multi-billion euro rescue plan.</p> <p>Assets though to be up for sale include Melbourne’s Alstom-Connex joint venture, workshops in Ballarat and its signalling, rail stock and engineering business in Sydney, the <em>ABC</em> reported.</p> <p>Its Tasmanian interest would remain under Alstom ownership, it said.</p> <p>Victorian transport minister Peter Batchelor told the <em>Australian</em> he was not concerned about the sale because the company’s Australian arm is a successful business.</p> <p>It would be an attractive proposition for any potential buyer, he said. </p> <br />
