<p>Osama bin Laden’s al-Qa’eda terrorist organisation has considered directly targeting US passenger trains, possibly using operatives of western appearance, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reported.</p> <p>The information comes from interviews with al-Qa’eda detainees, the FBI said.</p> <p>Other information at hand suggests operatives could also target key rail bridges and sections of track to cause train derailments, as well as containers holding hazardous materials.</p> <p>Recently captured al-Qa’eda photographs of US railroad engines, cars and crossing have heightened the concern about the threat, the FBI said.</p> <p>The US intelligence community continues to receive general threat reporting on the airline, maritime and financial sectors, as well as government facilities and installations, it said.</p> <br />
