<p>A new report has verified the rail industry’s assertion it is the safest form of land transport in Australia.</p> <p>The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) paper was released last week at the <em>LLDCN Australian Transport Safety Summit</em> .</p> <p>It found trains and buses have about a fifth the risk of death compared to car travel.</p> <p>Scheduled airline travel is the safest mode overall, while motorcycling is more than 20 times more dangerous than travelling by car.</p> <br />
