All tram services in Adelaide will be temporarily suspended over six weekends between May and August 2025, to allow for major works as park of the Tram Grade Separation Projects.

The entire tram network will be closed from 9pm on Saturday May 3, 2025 to last service on Sunday May 4.

The remaining closures will be:

  • From first service to last service Sunday, 11 May 2025
  • From 9pm Saturday, 17 May to last service Sunday, 18 May 2025
  • From first service Saturday, 31 May to last service Sunday, 1 June 2025
  • From 9pm Saturday, 21 June to last service Sunday, 22 June 2025
  • From first service Saturday, 2 August to last service Sunday, 3 August 2025. Partial tram line services resume between the South Terrace, Entertainment Centre and Botanic Gardens tram stops from first service Monday, 4 August 2025.

During these closures, bus services will replace trams. These buses will match the tram timetable, operating every 10 minutes during the day and every 15 to 20 minutes at night.

See here for the bus route map and timetables.

Substitute bus services will stop at all designated tram bus substitute stops.

Festival Plaza tram stop will not be serviced during the weekend closures.

The Glenelg tram line also will be partially closed (between Mosely Square and South Terrace) from first service Monday 4 August 2025 to late January 2026.

During this period, buses will replace trams between South Terrace and Stop 17 Moseley Square, connecting with trams arriving and departing at South Terrace tram stop.

Tram services will continue to operate between:

  • South Terrace to Royal Adelaide Hospital
  • Botanic Gardens to Entertainment Centre

Substitute bus timetables and bus stop locations for the partial closure will be available mid-year.

The Tram Grade Separation Projects will remove three level crossings where the Glenelg tram line crosses Marion Road and Cross Road, Plympton and Morphett Road, Morphettville, and the rebuild of the South Road Tram Overpass.
