<p>Truck drivers in Alice Springs have blamed the Adelaide-Darwin railway for an exodus of trucking firms from the region, <em>The Australian</em> reported.</p> <p>Drivers are upset over the railway’s decision to lift freight rates some nine months after services began.</p> <p>The Northern Territory Trucking Association said local companies would be unable to take advantage of the price hike because most drivers had already left town, the paper said.</p> <p>Alice Springs mayor Fran Kilgariff said about 100 jobs had been lost as a result of the railway. </p> <br />
