ACCC allows collective negotiations with Pacific National

Nuss Removals plans to negotiate with Pacific National on rail freight services after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) did not object to the collective bargaining notifications that the group had lodged.

Nuss Removals, on behalf of four removalists, will negotiate an annual volume growth rebate for rail and freight services with Pacific National, together with other terms and conditions.

ACCC chairman Graeme Samuel said the collective bargaining negotiations may result in some public benefits in the form of transaction cost savings.

&#8220It may also enable removalists to negotiate a more favourable rebate with Pacific National that would enable them to better compete with the larger, national removalists,&#8221 Mr Samuel said.

&#8220The ACCC considers that the possible anti-competitive effect of the collective bargaining arrangement is limited given the voluntary nature of the arrangement and the small size of the collective bargaining group.&#8221

The removalists are independently owned and located in ACT, NSW, Victoria and Western Australia.

Nuss Removals will enlist the rail freight services of Pacific National to provide interstate and long distance relocations.

Notification began on February 18 and will last for three years. However, the ACCC may review the notification should concerns arise.
