<p>Australian export earnings are forecast to rise 16% to $7.35bn this fiscal year, ending June 30, up from $6.34bn last year, the Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics said today (Tuesday, February 28). </p> <p>The figures, revealed at the Abare Outlook Conference in Canberra, indicate that next year earnings are expected to fall slightly to $7.21 billion. </p> <p>Australian coal exports are forecast to rise to 111.1m tonnes in fiscal 2006, up from 106.4m tonnes last year. </p> <p>They should rise to 113.7m tonnes next year, and reach 133.2m tonnes in fiscal 2011, Abare said. </p> <p>Thermal coal prices are expected to fall steadily in the medium term, as increases in mine production catch up to demand. </p> <p>Abare did not give a price forecast or timeframe, saying only that falls would be partially offset by increasing Asian demand for thermal coal. </p> <br />
