4Tel celebrates 25 years of delivering transport solutions

The 4Tel team recently marked 25 years of delivering industry-leading solutions to the transport industry.

The milestone was celebrated with a cocktail function in the business’s hometown of Newcastle, attended by past and present employees and their families, valued clients and the Lord Mayor of Newcastle.

Derel Wust, 4Tel’s Founder & Company Director, said: “We proudly remain an Australian family-owned business, developing world-class technology from Newcastle.

“From our beginnings as a small consultancy, we have grown to become a global solutions provider. We now operate across three continents – Australia, USA and Africa – and hold extensive intellectual property, with 32 trademarks and eight patents.”

4Tel’s new video reflecting on 25 years in business was launched at the event.

Celebrating their highly valued company culture, 16 team members were recognised for 10, 15 and 20 years of employment with the presentation of Milestone Awards at the event.

“Our talented team of innovative thinkers continuously push boundaries to solve industry problems. We find it incredibly rewarding to know that the work we do has a direct impact on communities and we are always seeking the next innovation,” said Wust.

4Tel is well-known for delivering innovative technology in Australia and internationally.

The team is trusted by governments, agencies and operators to provide control and information management solutions that improve the safety and efficiency of operations across all transport modes, including heavy rail, light rail, ports, ferries and buses.

Transport for NSW for regional train control services
United Group Limited Rail Linx (UGLRL) (operator and maintainer of the NSW Country Regional Network in Mayfield), for network control services
Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) for train control services on selected lines of the interstate network
Transdev Sydney Ferries for ferry operations on Sydney Harbour
Port Botany for logistics supply chain management
Vline in Vicotria for passenger information systems at stations
VicTrak in Victoria for specialist communications and networking services.

Recent work in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning systems under the 4Tel subsidiary, 4AI Systems, is delivering industry-leading onboard solutions for the rail industry.

In his welcome address the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Dr Ross Kerridge said: “4Tel is developing a very skilled workforce within our community, employing some 83 local staff and growing, many graduates from the University of Newcastle.

“They are an example of world-class technology growing in Newcastle and this is great for our city’s future. I congratulate them on 25 successful years in business and look forward to seeing what the future holds.”
