$20m contract signals passengers’ return to Victorian country lines

Works Infrastructure has won a $20m Victorian Government contract to improve rail infrastructure on the Ararat and Nairnsdale lines. Victorian Transport minister Peter Batchelor said the contract will enable the return of passenger services on the lines. The work will include upgrading 160 km of track, 39 level crossings and replacing almost 50,000 sleepers along the lines. It will also include bridge, station and platform refurbishments, Mr Batchelor said. Works Infrastructure provides rail and road infrastructure in Australia and New Zealand.
