$20m contract signals passengers’ return to Victorian country lines

<p>Works Infrastructure has won a $20m Victorian Government contract to improve rail infrastructure on the Ararat and Nairnsdale lines.</p> <p>Victorian Transport minister Peter Batchelor said the contract will enable the return of passenger services on the lines.</p> <p>The work will include upgrading 160 km of track, 39 level crossings and replacing almost 50,000 sleepers along the lines.</p> <p>It will also include bridge, station and platform refurbishments, Mr Batchelor said.</p> <p>Works Infrastructure provides rail and road infrastructure in Australia and New Zealand.</p> <br />
