Supermarkets giant Woolworths has recognised Aurizon as the carrier of the year at its annual customer awards.

Aurizon has been working with Woolworths’ home improvement subsidiary Masters since September 2012, and began carrying a larger scale of work for Woolworths Supermarkets in September 2013.

The Queensland business was named winner of the ‘Carrier of the Year’ Award recently, after being named among four shortlisted contenders.

“These awards promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in the transport industry,” Woolworths national transport manager Chris Brooks said. “On behalf of Woolworths I would like to congratulate Aurizon in winning the 2015 Transport Carrier of the Year Award.”

Aurizon executive vice president of commercial and marketing Mauro Neves said the award recognised the company’s renewed focus on customers.

“This award represents a real step change for the business,” Neves said.

“To be recognised by Australia’s largest retailer as carrier of the year shows that our intermodal business’ focus on safety, customer services and skills is starting to cut through the market place.

“Woolworths are one of Aurizon Intermodal’s largest customers following the recent implementations of both dry and refrigerated work to be delivered around the country.

“We look forward to continuing to deliver with Woolworths.”
