Invitation to attend free rail update forums
|
Bruce Griffiths, rail supplier advocate, together with Tony Carney, the national sector manager – rail, ICN, and the Victorian, NSW and Queensland Governments, are hosting free rail industry briefings in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on May 28-30. |
Griffiths is inviting all interested parties to the briefings to highlight the work of the industry in coming together and developing a strategic plan for the Australian rail industry.
There will be a presentation on the rail supplier Roadmap, On Track 2040, which is due to be published by ANU Edge later this month.
The roadmap has brought industry, stakeholders, government and academia together to deliver a vision for the Australian rail manufacturing sector’s future. The project has involved engagement with more than 210 representatives from 110 organisations. It will position the Australian rail supply sector well to continue to grow to 2040 and beyond.
Griffiths is very excited about the release of the Roadmap and told Rail Express: “This project is symbolic of the industry’s determination to achieve a consensus on a vision – it outlines directions for future opportunities and pathways. Importantly, it sets out necessary short-term decisions that will lay the foundations for long-term sustainability.”
The briefings will also focus on another key project jointly funded by the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) and the Rail Supplier Advocate Program to forecast the demand for rolling stock.
This project engages the Council for the Australian Federation and coordinates state Departments of Transport, operators and primes to share information and develop models to more effectively forecast demand, thereby reducing costs for suppliers and customers and encourage investment.
The briefings will include an update on a sector wide supply chain improvement program for the rail industry being led by Enterprise Connect as well as opportunities and lessons learnt from a recent Australian delegation to China and Hong Kong and an update on the Australian delegation to the largest rail show on earth, InnoTrans in September 2012. Tony Carney, national sector manager for rail, ICN, will also provide an update on ICN rail activities and recent major rail opportunities.
Come along and find out more about the exciting activities happening in the rail sector.
