New maintenance machine to boost rail productivity
|
A new high-performance track construction and maintenance machine which delivers increased productivity, shorter track shutdowns and lower life cycle repair costs has been launched. |
The “09-3X Dynamic”
The “09-3X “Dynamic” was manufactured locally by Plasser Australia and handed over to rail infrastructure company Rhomberg Rail Australia (RRA) for use throughout the NSW and interstate rail lines.
The machine was officially unveiled by NSW parliamentary secretary for roads and transport, John Ajaka, at a special ceremony on February 10 at the Plasser plant in Sydney’s West.
RRA managing director Garry Thuer said the company was pleased to be investing in such a high-performance machine for the Australian market which would be the fastest of its kind in Australia.
“The 09-3X Dynamic combines two well proven technologies within a single machine: high output, 3-sleeper continuous action tamping and dynamic track stabilising,” Thuer said.
“This means it has a higher working speed and consequently productivity is increased and shorter periods of track shutdowns can be achieved.”
The machine would be immediately used on a re-railing project on the ARTC network between NSW and South Australia, before going on to projects in the NSW Hunter Valley.
The “09-3X Dynamic” took 14 months to manufacture at the Plasser Australia plant at St Marys.
