The Australian rail industry was understandably pleased with the $4.6 billion in Federal funding for passenger rail projects, announced in the latest Federal budget under the guidance of Infrastructure Australia (IA). However the Australasian Railway Association’s (ARA) submission to IA for an Australian Digital Train Control System (ADTCS), something that the ARA rates as one of the “highest priorities” for the Australian rail industry, failed to be picked up by IA.
