CRC for Rail Innovation
The CRC for Rail Innovation is a collaborative venture between leading organisations in the Australian rail industry, Universities and it is supported by the Commonwealth Government. As such the CRC combines the drive of industry with the knowledge of universities to ensure that all research is closely aligned to industry needs such that it can be readily adopted or commercialised. The CRC research program aims to complement and enhance existing knowledge by focusing on six key research themes: climate change and environment; performance; safety and security; smart technology; urban rail access; and workforce development. Around $100m will be invested in rail industry research over the 7 years until 2014. This makes it the single biggest research program in the history of Australian railways.
